Better things are just around the corner

Save for those of you who find an absolute killer deal on an Xbox One, everyone else may want to refrain for a week or so from upgrading to Microsoft’s latest and greatest. Something awfully enticing may be just around the corner — a sure improvement over a base console package.

Microsoft has announced an announcement today. Every day next week, it’s revealing an Xbox One holiday bundle. They’ll probably all be the system with a 500GB hard drive and one of the season’s biggest titles. ThinkRise of the Tomb Raiderand an Xbox One for $349 or so, because that will almost certainly be one given how hard Microsoft is pushing thisTomb Raidersemi-exclusivity.

This bundle promotion seems to be a spiritual successor (bad phrase) to last year’s drop in cost to $349. Now that it’s a fairly standard price, throwing in a free in-demand game is a natural evolution. If nothing else, Microsoft gets an A for effort in trying to close the gap between Xbox One and PS4.

Honestly, I was hesitant to even post this. “Big company has an announcement coming, stay tuned!” is rarely ever newsworthy. It’s usually just means for more press coverage so PR can run to their managers and beg for a pat on the back. But, this might keep someone from going in on a purchase that ends up being subpar if they were to just wait a bit. So, announcement of an announcement isactuallyan announcement today. Just for today, though.
