For all of its general cheese and B-movie dialog,Resident Evil 4is a pretty sincere survival horror game, with the remake toning some of that OG cheesiness down even more. But now that you’ve read the title of this story, I’m willing to bet a few of you won’t be able to take Capcom’s iconic series seriously after this.

Over on YouTube,eli_handle_b․wavhas answered the question no one asked (but probably should have): what happens if you put Leslie Nielsen intoResident Evil? In their latest video, we get snippets of Nielsen’s most beloved character – Detective Frank Drebin – expertly spliced into theRE4remake.

Resident Evil 4: Leon Kennedy, Ashley Graham, and actor Leslie Nielsen posing with the church behind them.

Honestly, it’s damn impressive stuff. We see him bumbling through the castle, assuring Ashley he’ll stop at nothing to capture the criminals who took her, before declaring it’s time for lunch. There’s even a section that shows the iconicNaked Gun/Police Squadintroduction, with the siren on the police car clumsily moving through areas of the game.

I am serious, etc.

The way Nielsen has been put intoRE4is clearly the work of a master editor. But it’s more than just a quick goof. It perfectly blends the aesthetic of the game, while retaining the classic humor the late actor was known for.

There are loads of other examples of this kind on the channel. There’s a video of Mr. Bean inHitman 3,It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s Frank Reynolds inThe Last of Us, Dr. Evil inFallout 4, and many more where they came from.

When it comes to the likes ofResident Evil 4, we find that, as is usually the case with these things…actually, no. I’m not finishing that thought. I’m off to watchAirplane!instead.
