It seems like it’s all about rhythm this week in the Wii Shop.
BIT.TRIP BEAT(Aksys Games, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone, 600 Wii Points)is a rhythm-matching game on WiiWare which has players bouncing out beats with the motion controls with the Wii remote. It’s described as having a retro feel to it, with a chiptune soundtrack and old-school visuals. Sounds like something which appeals to my interests.
Summer Games II™(Commodore 64, 1-8 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points), on the other hand, does not. While I can’t say that the controller-wrecking series of games from Epyx for the Commodore 64 is bad, it’s graphics are almost painful to look at now and the game was so frustrating to play with a full joystick that I can’t imagine trying to play it with a d-pad.
