March 10
Amid rumors of first-person gameplay and a neon aesthetic,FortniteChapter 4 Season 1 has come to a close, and it’s time to enter Season 2: “FortniteMega.” Here’s when it launches.
FortniteChapter 4 Season 2 (FortniteMega) will go live on March 10, in the early morning (US)
Unlike many prior seasons ofFortnite, Chapter 4 Season 2 did not go live after a 24 hour period. While Season 1 ended on March 8,Epic Games started making proper preparations to launch Season 2 on Aug 05, 2025. In other words, there’s a full day and change of downtime on March 9.
How long doesFortnitemaintenance take?
Epic confirmedthat downtime will kick off at 2AM ET on March 10, at which point “Fortnite Mega” will be implemented in the backend. There was a prior mistake in the announcement (3AM ET), but it was amended.
A few hours after that the game will be playable, barring any last-minute administrative snafus. Downtime ranges considerably depending on the update and season, so it could be a shorter amount of time until you get in, or you could be in for a longer wait.

Here is how we expect everything to shake out, timezone-wise:
Further downtime updatescan be found directly on Epic Games’ public status report site.
