The First Descendantis an online looter shooter that gives you the chance to team up with three other players and lay into massive bosses and hordes of smaller enemies like never before. It also features an interesting and satisfying level system that helps differentiate it from its contemporaries.
Like many other looter shooters,The First Descendanthas two levels for you to max out in your time with the game. There’s your Descendant Level and your Mastery Level. You’ll need to grind for ages if you want to max both of these out, and while that’s a worthy goal, just remember that grinding levels is a big part of what will keep you coming back to the game, so try not to rush too much.
What is the max level inThe First Descendant?
The max level of your Descendant inThe First Descendantis Level 40. You’ll grind this level organically while playing through missions and tackling missions with others. It’s the level you don’t really think about until you’ve hit the endgame because that’s when you’ll want to push it all the way up so you can focus on the other level your character has.
The maximum Mastery Level for your character inThe First Descendantis level 30. This level is harder to grind than your base character level because it relies on you earningMastery Level Points and ranking up through firsts. For example, the first time you complete a mission, kill a specific enemy type, or increase your proficiency with a weapon will all count towards your Mastery Level.
In that way, it works similarly to how Power Level works inDestiny 2. You’re rewarded with points towards this lofty goal for seeking out a challenge. Varying the weapons you use and always aiming for something that’s a little out of your comfort zone will see you smash your Mastery Level in no time, but it’s a marathon, not a sprint.
There’s no real goal for you to aim for once you’ve hit max level inThe First Descendant, so you’ll likely drop off the game a bit. I don’t like to play to hit a wall where I can no longer get anything out of the game. I prefer the long grind, so I’ll be taking my time with this one. If you’re the type of player who moves between looter shooters and want to max this one out so you may move on, then you know what you need to do.
