Controls and settings
If you’re coming fromFisch, something you’ll realize right away is thatGO FISHINGis much simpler to play. All you really need to do is equip a rod (press “1” and you’re avatar will equip it/unequip it) andhold the left-click to cast a line.
The longer you hold a line, the more you’ll build up the casting bar. Always try to go for super casting, but even if you aren’t great at it, don’t worry because it won’t really matter once you get to the second island.
As for the settings, the game doesn’t really have much to speak of. What you see is what you get. There is a leaderboard, a party system, an emoji system, and even several buttons on the main screen you can use to access the shop; we’ll look at the shop later, too.
How does the fishing minigame work in GO FISHING?
At first glance, the fishing minigame seems like you’ll be clicking/tapping on your screen, but in reality, you won’t have to do anything other than cast a line.
There are three parts to the fishing minigame:
When you cast a line, you’ll see little targets appear all over your screen.You need to click on enough of them to move to the next mini-game,where you actually reel the fish in. Don’t worry too much about playing this one accurately because even if you miss, you can’t actually fail the target mini-game.
When you see theblue and green Reel barappear on the right side of the screen, that is where you need to pay attention. Here, you need toclick as fast as you canso you may reel the fish in. While at first, this will seem simple, later, you’ll need more Fishing Speed, Strength, and a better rod to win this part of the minigame.
After this bit, you’ll have caught the fish. It will automatically get added to your inventory, sono need to walk or click on it to collect it.
Items in GO FISHING
You’ll have three types of items in your inventory:
Fishis… well… the fish you catch. you may keep it there, but most of the time, you’ll just sell the entire haul at a local shop. Be sure to check how to properly sell fish, later in the guide.
Rodswill show all the rods you currently have. You probably won’t need to swap rods often because after you buy a new one, it automatically gets equipped, and there’s not much point in going back to a lower (weaker) rod.
Baitis definitely something you should not spend money on until you get to the endgame. Why? Because, unlike your regular hook, bait is consumable. You’ll eat through your bait in a matter of seconds, and the money you save on it can be used to make better rods.
Just like bait,Potionsare also finite. We strongly recommend you hold off on buying these until you get to the last island.
As forBoats, you really only need the most basic raft to get anywhere in the world, but if you have money to spare, go for it.
Premium itemsrange from casting a double the bait with each throw, getting a random high-ranking rod at the gacha, selling stuff everywhere, more inventory space, and various other QoL items.None of these are necessary unless you want to support the game.
Giftsare, essentially, seasonal loot boxes, but with a twist. There are four types of gifts, ranging in size, and you can use 10 smaller gifts to get one bigger gift. For example, 10 Medium Gifts can be turned into one Big Gift, and 10 Big Gifts can be turned into one Giant Gift. Naturally, the bigger the Gift, the bigger the chance you’ll get something better from it.
Selling Fish in GO FISHING
When you fill up your inventory with fish take them to the Fish merchant, and sell it. You might be thinking “Well, that’s obvious. Why bother even telling me this?” Just wait.
Don’t just sell the fish; turn them into Gold and Diamond Fish and then sell them.Five regular Fish turn into a Gold Fish, and five Gold Fish turn into a Diamond Fish. Simply open your inventory, select a fish, and pick Make Gold / Make Diamond. Needless to say, Gold and Diamond Fish are worth A LOT more than regular Fish. Always try to sell Gold and Diamond Fish over regular ones. You’ll thank us later.
Progressing in GO FISHING
To progress inGO FISHING, you need to go from one island to another, fish up a couple of fish, maybe complete a quest or two, and move on to the next island. That’s about it.
While nothing is stopping you from going straight to Toxic Island as soon as you get your first raft, you won’t be able to reel any fish in because you’ll lack Fishing Speed and Strength. Speaking of those, those are the three attributes you can improve in this game:
Essentially, you need to build up your Fishing Speed and Strength a few levels on each island you visit and then move on to the next one. As for Luck, you should definitely put some points into it, but we advise you to prioritize Strength and Fishing Speed over it. Your rod also plays a huge part in how well you catch Fish so don’t forget to upgrade it too.
Quests in GO FISHING
Each island you visit in GO FISHING usually has one or two quests. Generally, you should try and finish each of these before moving on to the next island, but if you can’t, it’s no biggie (you can always go back and finish them later).
The reason for this is that most quests need you to fish out a specific fish or several heavy fish. You can simply accept these quests, move on to the next island, and come back and hand them in when you capture the specific fish.
Autofishing
Once you get to Volcano Island (the first island you should visit after getting a boat or a raft), you’ll unlock Autofishing.Before you ask, NO, this is not a premium feature;you can use it as much as you want with no restrictions.
Autofishing turns GO FISHING into an idle game. Not only will this automatically cast your line (Super cast it as well), but it will also hit all the targets for you and automatically click the Reel bar. Whenever you get to a new island, try Autofishing, see if it works without a problem, and you can just leave it like that for a while.
Rod Progression in GO FISHING
When it comes to rod progression, you are advised to buy them in the order they are listed in the shop, from the least expensive to the most expensive.
However,we bought every other one(we skipped one each time we upgraded). The jump from a bone rod to a Trident Rod doesn’t feel as great as a jump from a Bone Rod to a Dead Rod. Of course, you can just buy them in order, but keep in mind you can’t trade in your old rod, and you’ll end up spending a lot more time farming for money.
There are also super-rare rods you can get by opening Chests (loot boxes) but they aren’t required to progress.
FAQ
I bought a boat, but it’s not in my inventory. Where is it?
Don’t worry, your boats aren’t stored in your inventory, they are stored at the Ship Dealer. Talk to him, select the boat you bought, and it should say Spawn. Whenever you may’t find your boat, simply talk to the Ship Dealer again and it will spawn your boat for you.
Which skills should I level up first?
Fishing Speed and Strength. Make sure these two are on the same level. You should also add points to your luck, but it’s not as important as fishing speed and strength.
Do I need to upgrade my boat?
