Niantic has finally revealed details on Pokémon Go Road Trip after months of teasing, and it seems to have failed to meet trainers’ expectations.

The event, which was officially revealed this morning by Niantic, has a large brandedPokémon Go-themed tour bus tour around parts of Europe, beginning July 16 in Manchester, U.K., and ending at Gamescom on Aug 24. The full schedule includes:

There doesn’t appear to be any special spawns, raids, or events, with Road Trip instead focusing on photo opportunities, zones for community challenges, and meets with notable trainers. And as you can imagine, the community hasn’t exactly been thrilled about this news.

“So it’s useless,” one comment read. “So they did all that teasing for what exactly?” another user wrote. “I could actually go,” a Redditor said. “It would take me less than 3 hours, but this doesn’t seem worth it at all.” These are just some of the many responses trainers have been having following the announcement, and if we are honest, we have to agree.

While its a nice idea for Niantic to have an event that targets its community and gives trainers a chance to meet some content creators they are fans of, not having some kind of big tie-in diminishes the reason to head to these locations for a large portion of the community.

Granted, Niantic has said there will be in-game tie-ins for all players in England, France, Spain, Germany, and the Netherlands, but there isn’t any information as of yet on what that might be. So there’s still a slim chance to be hopeful that something comes out of this eventually, but we expect it to be some minor research tasks that’ll unlock something on brand, like a Pikachu or Eevee spawn (maybe even a special costumed one if we are lucky).
