Normal should feel more ‘normal’

If there’s one thing that can really bog down a horror game, it’s the difficulty. Make it too easy, and there’s no real chance of maintaining tension. Make it too hard, and repeated playthroughs of the same challenging section over again and again will have once-scary moments feeling rote. It’s a tricky balance.

After monitoring player feedback,Outlast 2developer Red Barrels has found that things aren’t quite where they ought to be, difficulty-wise. Today’s update brings “minor adjustments to the game’s difficulty in key areas and moments. On Normal difficulty this will offer players a more appropriately balanced experience while still maintaining higher levels of challenge on Hard and Nightmare difficulties.”
