Update:Thanks toShionyanson Twitter, it seems you may confirm if your character has received theFFXIVgraphics update by inspecting the Lodestone image size. The new, updated size is 880×1200; older images not yet updated are 640×873.
WithFinal Fantasy XIVdown for a long 48 hours of maintenance beforeDawntrail’s early access period, it’s natural that players are looking for the next best thing. This happens to be the Companion App or Lodestone, and some eagle-eyed players have noticed something very exciting — the graphics update is rolling out.
One of the biggest changes coming inDawntrail, aside from the entirely new story arc, areas to explore, and a long list of upgrades, of course, is thegraphical update. This huge overhaul toFFXIV‘s graphics will deliver something of a glow-up to all characters, as well as every area of Eorzea and beyond. The player search database over on the Lodestone andFFXIV’sCompanion App already seems to reflect this for some characters.
The Companion App is also being updated during the 48-hour maintenance, and, as players all over Twitter have begun to report,the update seems to be live for a lucky few. (Mostly) excited Warriors of Light are sharing screenshots of their characters inside the Companion App, seemingly having undergone their virtual beautification process. Alternatively, after glancing at theFFXIVLodestone player search, it looks like some Warriors of Light got their makeovers on that site, too.
If you haven’t noticed a difference in your character yet, don’t fret. It seems that this update is going out in waves, with some players getting their makeover earlier than others. I’m going to be honest: It’s a little hard to tell whether my character has been hit with the update yet. Maybe it’s the clothing choices or perhaps the fact that she’s wearing all black.
It’s reassuring that my confusion seems to be shared by many players on Twitter, with many commenting that it’s hard to tell.
