Independent music enthusiasts (and especially those who follow game music) are pretty familiar withBandcampas a platform to get affordable music while giving the creators a greater cut than through traditional means. Perhaps less well known is the weekly podcast that Bandcamp produces, featuring discussion with artists and a sampling of music, occasionally revolving around a central theme.
Citing nearly $1.5 million worth of videogame music sold on Bandcamp,this week’s podcastis focused exclusively on game soundtracks. Appearing on the show are Danny Baranowsky (Super Meat Boy), Jimmy Hinson AKA Big Giant Circles (Mass Effect 2), Jim Guthrie (Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP), Laura Shigihara (Plants vs. Zombies), Austin Wintory (Monaco: What’s Yours is Mine), and Disasterpiece (FEZ).
It’s a great episode, partly for the discussion but largely for the awesome playlist of music underscoring the whole thing. It’s worth a listen if you have the time.
