A new trademark filed by Square Enix was for the name “Square.” Are they going back to square one?
It seems that Square Enix may be rebranding, going back to the name they used back in the old days. We have a copy of the trademark document, and it looks like the trademarking you’d see for a company name. As you can see in our gallery, it lists everything they make.
Square Enix has said nothing on this so far. Maybe they’ll confirm it with a press release soon.
First there was Square and/or SquareSoft, and when they acquired Enix it became Square Enix. But I like Square by itself. It works because they have since acquired more companies. Square might be the new name that they all fall under.
