Borderlands 2has been talked about by gamers so openly that it always surprises me when I remember the game’s not officially been announced yet. So it is that we have a new rumor ofBorderlands 2“in development” with a projected 2012 release date.

The news comes by way ofANONYMOUS SOURCESat Gearbox, but really, it seems so obvious that the studio would want to make a sequel that it might as well just announce the thing. Sadly, the world of PR doesn’t run with human logic, and Randy Pitchford has refused to confirm the game.

“I can tell you that myself and everyone at Gearbox LOVESBorderlandsand we have been absolutely thrilled at the reception it’s gotten from our customers and the fact that it’s sold over four million units now,” said the studio boss. “… But we’ve only announced what we’ve announced. If we haven’t announced it, it doesn’t exist.”
