Sonic programmer’s long lost action game is finally on its way

NIS America just revealed plans to localizeRodea: The Sky Soldierfor North America and Europe. Expect to see the aerial action game hit Nintendo 3DS and Wii U sometime this autumn.

Rodeahas an interesting development history. After being announced for Wii in 2010, it virtually disappeared off the face of the earth for a few years before resurfacing in 2014 with a change of platforms. The project comes from Prope, the indie studio helmed by former Sonic Team boss Yuji Naka, who you might recognize for its work titles likeLet’s Tap,Ivy the Kiwi?, andLet’s Catch.

3DS games for sale

Rodea: The Sky Soldierlaunches April 2 in Japan, where Kadokawa Games plans to bundle in the original Wii game with the Wii U version as a bonus. Destructoid has reached out to NIS America asking if it hopes to do the same here in the West and will update when we receive a response.

[Update:NIS America declined to comment about the Wii version ofRodea.]
