Nighthawk Interactivehas announcedthat they’ll be publishingPui Pui Molcar Let’s! Molcar Party!in North America and Europe on November 21. It’s set for release on Switch.

Originally published by Bandai Namco in Japan and developed by Groove Box Japan, I’m just learning of this show featuring potato cars now. I had tolook it up, but apparently, it’s popular in an internet sort of way, but I’ve never seen it. I would probably have remembered potato cars.

Pui Pui Molcar Let’s! Molcar Party!

The potato cars are actually rodent-car hybrids, with the “mol” part of the title coming from the Japanese word morumotto, which means Guinea Pig.Pui Pui Molcar Let’s! Molcar Party!is a party game based on the concept, and it looks so weirdly compelling. I think it’s poking the same spot in my brain thatChoro Qtends to jab at. Cute rodent cars living in a little playset city? Sign me up.

The art style inPui Pui Molcar Let’s! Molcar Party!is also really charming, featuring felt-like fur on all the potato cars and a sort of stop-motion jerkiness to their animations. Beyond playing minigames involving dancing or playing cops and robbers, you can also observe/feed the potato cars and even pet them. You can dress them up and take photos of them. It’s a game that looks wholesome and cute while also having a bizarre, unhinged quality.
