Shadow Tactics on consoles is a nice surprise

Bringing back those old Commandos vibes Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogunis perhaps the coolest stealth game I’m not currently playing. It’s a real-time tactical game set during Japan’s Edo period in which you manage a five-person team, figuring out when and where to best make use of your crew’s abilities and approaches to takedowns. Darren dug the PC version enough to land on aneight out of tenfor his review. That’ll surely remain the best place to play, butShadow Tacticsis also coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on August 1 (North America) and July 28 (Europe), both digitally and at retail....

Size matters: Comparing a launch PS3 to the PS4

Or a Foreman Grill versus a giant eraser There’s no denying that the launch PlayStation 3 was a behemoth. Large and bulky, sporting more media card slots than needed, the most powerful console of its time looked more like a countertop grill than a sleek and sexy addition for any home entertainment cabinet. To further iterate this point,Sony’s PS Access channelhas put together a lovely video showing off just how much more attractive the Playstation 4’s launch console is than its predecessor....

Solar Ash Kingdom has that same Hyper Light Drifter spirit

Heart Machine’s next game is off to a promising start I amallthe way into this debut trailer forSolar Ash Kingdom, the next action game fromHyper Light Driftercreator Heart Machine. The team has shifted from pixel art to full 3D, but their vibrant sense of style and color wasn’t lost in the trade. I can’t get over that cool hatching effect on the moon. It’s an unsurprisingly minimalist trailer, but the more you look, the more details you’ll catch....

Spore pushed back to 2009; Thing 1 prescribed Wellbutrin

Kotaku hasword, via the latest issue ofGame Informer, that Will Wright’s magnum opus,Spore, has been delayedindefinitely. After a bit of sleuthing, however, it turns out EA has actually pushed the title from fiscal ’08 to fiscal ’09; a sobering alteration, certainly, but not the apocalyptic announcement we were originally handed. The title – which seeks to provide gamers a way to shape the very evolution of a species, and, in turn, an entire world – has beendelayed a number of times already, and with such a massive scope, we imagine we’re only a few months away from an announcement delaying the game until Jesus Christ comes out in support of Darwinian Evolution....

Y’know? just chillin’… zapping some punks… Atlus have released the sixth video in the character series forDragon’s Crown Pro. This trailer, featuring the Wizard, now sees all the fantasy adventure’s classes given their moment in the spotlight. Wizard is not only an excellent support fighter, devastating when ranged, but he’s also the most chill dude you’re ever likely to encounter. Wizard saunters around the battlefield, looking kinda bored, casting spells and frying fools, still keeping his gorgeous silvery hair shiny and manageable....

Tak Fujii is back with Gal Metal, a drumming game for Nintendo Switch

‘All you need is love of metal’ Former Konami producer Tak Fujii (Ninety-Nine Nights II,Frogger 3D,Blades of Time) isjust the best. We can’t get enough of the guy and his unabashedexcitement and silliness. If you’ve been wondering what he’s been up to lately like I have, look no further: he’s working on a motion-centric drumming rhythm title for Nintendo Switch at DMM Games that calls to mindanotherinfamous E3 moment. The 15 best Rimworld mods

Widely acclaimed and generally beloved, the colony simulator titleRimworldis quite unlike most other games, short ofDwarf Fortressitself. The thing is, though, thatRimworldis a lot of things to a lot of people, and that’s at least partially due to its impressive array of mods. Indeed, mostRimworldplayers make good use of community mods – as one does – and virtually everyone’s got their own list of must-haves and niche upgrades. In other words, not everyone’s going to want to install each and every popularRimworldmod, but this did make us think: which mods are the most likely to make their way into the vast majority of mod lists?...

The Bad Dudes President is not actually American

Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Inspired by acomic from Zac Gorman, the Destructoid staff was chatting aboutBad Dudes, the old beat ’em up infamous for itsabrupt openingand unsatisfying conclusion (pictured above). Upon inspecting the image more closely though, we had a “cannot unsee” moment. What is the deal with that flag behind him? As paragons of journalism, we have taken the liberty to provide an artist’s rendition (read: something I made in MS Paint) of what the flag behindBad DudesPresident would look like unfurled and flattened....

The Japanese Nintendo Direct shows off the latest Onion Games project, Stray Children

On the other side of the pond, Japan’s version of the Nintendo Direct gave ussome detailson the game that Onion Games has been teasing for a while now. Titled Stray Children, it looks like a return to Yoshiro Kimura’s roots at Love-de-Lic, as the style is extremely evocative ofMoon: Remix RPG Adventure. Onion Games hasbeen teasinga new “RPG-style” title for a while now but has been extremely coy about showing anything off....
