A new trademark filing for Diddy Kong in Europe was discovered by thosesuper sleuths on NeoGAFthat could point to a pending announcement at E3 next week. Therehave been rumors making the rounds aboutDiddy Kong Racing2being developed by Monster Games, who previously madeExcitebotsfor the Wii, portedDonkey Kong Country Returnsto the 3DS, and assisted Retro withDonkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. The studio is no stranger to racing orDonkey Konggames, so it makes sense.Another NeoGAF based rumorstates that Retro is developing the Wii U version ofDiddy Kong Racing 2while Monster Games is porting it to 3DS.
That being said, the trademark covers a large amount of potential products such as: Footwear, garters, toys for domestic pets, toys with built-in IC chips, and a conjuring apparatus, just to name a few. For all we know we could be using a Diddy Kong Wii-ja board in the near future to summon the spirit of Cranky Kong.
