Ecco CD, Shin Megami Tensei, and more
Sega continues to tease the list of rarities and obscurities that will be bundled with its incoming retro hardware, the Sega Mega Drive Mini II. Following onfrom last month’s stellar selection, today sees Sega announce 11 more classic Sega Mega Drive and Sega Mega CD classics for the cute Mini II console.
Featured amongthe new batchof releases are Mega Drive releasesPopulous, Gain Ground, and the genre-defining RPGPhantasy Star II,as well as the more obscure Japanese adventuresTougi Ou: King ColossusandSocerian. Representing the Sega Mega CD, we have the ecological-themed remasterEcco the Dolphin CD, medieval shmupRobo Aleste,and the first release in the belovedShin Megami Tenseiseries. With titles such as these, the Sega Mega Drive II is shaping up to be a really refined collector’s console.

Sega has already confirmed that the hardwarewill receive a western releasein the form of the Sega Genesis 2, which will be launching day and date alongside the Japanese edition this fall. While we can expect any of the above titles that received an English localization on release to be featured on the western edition of the console, it remains to be seen have the Japan-only titles will be handled.
