Konami’s working on a quick fix

Those Diamond Dogs can be a bunch of doggone dirty scoundrels. Konami learned that the hard way with its recently-launchedPC betaforMetal Gear Online. The publisher was forced to temporarily take the game offline because some players found an exploit that affects Konami’s bottom line.

On theMetal Gear Solid V: The Phantom PainSteam discussion page, a developer communicated news that the beta was being momentarily pulled. “Due to a possible exploit, we’ve removed access to the Beta temporarily while a hotfix is being prepared,” he commented.

However,Kotakuis reporting that the loophole is a fairly serious one. It’s said that players are currently able to acquire free MB coins, which is the microtransaction-fueled currency that can be bought for real money. That obviously doesn’t sit well with Konami.

Once the developers figure out how to rectify this, the beta should come back online. We’ll notify you when it does as long as we don’t get distracted by that totally cute toy pup over there.
