Feels very Vampire the Masquerade-y

If there’s one thing you’re able to’t deny about Dontnod, it’s that it’s incredibly thematically varied. If it’s not futuristic memory hunters inRemember Me, its hella-rad time-travelling teenagers taking selfies inLife is Strange.

Their third game is set to continue this trend of being something completely different, asa Q&A with Dontnod’s game director Philippe Moreauon the European PlayStation blog has shed some light on their new action RPGVampyr.

Set in London during the Spanish Flu outbreak in 1918,Vampyrstars surgeon-come-vampire Jonathan Reid as he tries to find a cure (we’re not sure if it’s for his vampirism or the flu) and eventually come to terms with his new-found vampire status. Dontnod promises thatVampyrwill have a lot of exploration and investigation elements, such as finding clues and talking to a large cast of NPCs.

While most of the talk about gameplay appears to be PR guff (“tight, visceral combat” could mean anything), one of the more interesting things is that you’ll be able to prey on any character in the game. Dontnod claims that each victim you take will have both immediate and further-reaching impact on the game’s story, and consideringLife is Strangemade me overly invested in a house plant, I think I believe them.

You can read the full Q&A on the PlayStation website. It doesn’t give us an entirely clear picture of what the game will be, but I am totally down for essentiallyVampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines – 1918 Editionwith just a hint ofDishonored.Even just looking at the concept art makes me incredibly excited for this.

Vampyrcurrently doesn’t have a release date, however it is being published by Focus Home Interactive for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
