It sounds like gamescom 2010 was an eye opener for Kojima Productions. Their crative director, Shigenobu Matsuyama, told VideoGamer that he’s embracing the Xbox 360 and now even thinking about the PC as a future platform for their games.

At gamescom Matsuyama said “We see publishers – Capcom have started a little bit earlier than us – and I can say most of the Japanese studios have seen the importance of going multi-platform, and our studio as well.”

“I think we’re now really ready to go multi-platform at once, I mean development cycle wise. I think this will be a normal trend for Japanese studios in the future.”

And PC gamers in Europe might have helped PC gaming out by showing up and making a stink.

Matsuyama on PC:“What surprised me when I came to Germany were also the PC games,” he said. “Living in Japan, PC games are not really mainstream, but seeing them here I thought that this PC area is also a place that we need to consider more seriously.”

I betMetal Gear Solid: Risingdoes very well on the Xbox 360. It’s hard for me to shake the PlayStation association with the franchise, but I still believe that multiplatform is best for all publishers.
