Microsoft exec brings hope
Continuing in line with previous comments about open-world franchiseCrackdownreturningwith the right team and time, Microsoft Game Studios VP Phil Spencer has again professed love for the property. “[It’s] one of my favorite games, and not just because it’s a Microsoft first-party game,” he said to IGN. “I have a lot of love for that franchise.The homage toCrackdownin the [May 21 event] reveal screenshotswas … I know there was some, like, ‘Did we accidentally sneak that…?’ It wasn’t accidental. Definitely.”
And in case there was any doubt left about the series’ eventual return: “I don’t thinkCrackdownis dead at all,” Spencer stated. “It’s a franchise that’s still close to me. I think there’s a lot of room, especially … For me, the natural progression for a game likeCrackdown— and you see this showing up on our stage — is in these living, open worlds that live in the cloud.”

After the disappointingCrackdown 2, I absolutely agree that having a break is a good thing, even if my lack of patience says otherwise. I’d really like to see this come back in a meaningful way.
