If you’re looking for certain resources or materials inStardew Valley, there’s a high likelihood that one of the many in-game vendors will sell at least some of them. One of these vendors is Krobus, who sells various rare items.

Before you can unlock Krobus’ Shop inside the Sewers, you’re going to have to put in a little bit of effort. The Sewers are locked for a while at the start of the game, and unlocking them requires some effort on your part.

It’s not just Krobus’ Shop awaiting you in the Sewers, either. If you want to catch all ofStardew Valley’sLegendary Fish, you’ll find one of them down here, too. Plus, if you want to befriend Krobus, you may’t even begin to do so until you’ve unlocked the Sewers.

How to get the Rusty Key in Stardew Valley

You’ll first hear about the Sewers and the Rusty Key from Vincent and Jas on or after Spring 11 of year one, if you enter the Cindersap Forest on a Monday, Thursday or Sunday. After that, if you try to enter the Sewers by either of the openings in Cindersap Forest or the main town, you’ll be told that you cannot enter yet.

To get the Rusty Key, you’ll need todonate 60 items to the Museum. These donations can include artifacts or minerals, but you need to donate 60 unique items. After you’ve reached this number, Gunther will visit you at home and give you the Rusty Key, allowing you access to the sewers.

How to unlock Krobus’ Shop in Stardew Valley

The good news is that once you’ve donated 60 items and got the Rusty Key, you’ll now automatically have access to both Krobus and his shop. You’re now free to win him over with conversation and gifts or otherwise purchase rare items from his shop.

If you choose to make Krobus your roommate, he will no longer be in residence down in the Sewers. You’ll still be able to access his wares if you go down there, but he will be replaced with a chest which you’ll need to interact with.
