When starting your journey inDragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, you can get the Tough Cookie Personality by pushing the boulder 40 times toward the old man during the Forest Personality Test. To unlock the test, you will need to answer the questions provided by the mysterious being in a set way, with the first question determining the path you must follow. I was able to unlock the test by answering the Personality Quiz in the following way:

Keep in mind that even if your first question does not match ours, answering any of the questions above, as shown, will unlock the one below it and set you on the path toward the Forest Test. I, however, recommend restarting your playthrough until your first question matches ours for an easier time. Unlike the fan-favorite Vamp, Tough Cookie can be unlocked no matter your hero’s gender.

The hero pushes their fortieth boulder and unlocks the Tough Cookie Personality in DQ 3.

How to Push the Boulders During the Forest Test

After answering all of the questions as shown above and being teleported into the Forest Test, you will be able to push the boulder toward the old man by simply heading left while facing it. As you can guess, there’s no way to speed up the process apart from running and skipping the dialogue. In other words, if you want to start as a Tough Cookie, you will need to go back and forth 40 times. There’s no need to keep count, though, as the old man will let you know once you deliver your fortieth boulder.

you may momentarily change the Personality of any of your party members (including the Hero) inDQ 3 HD-2Dby equipping them with theWeightlifter’s Belt, which can be acquired by heading to the Mini Medal Manor and talking to Morgan Minimann after acquiring 35 Mini Medals. You can reach Mini Medal Manor by jumping down a well located on the lower left portion of the Aliahan map, more specifically on the spot below:
