The second major update forFields of Mistriaadded something players have been asking for since it launched in early access last year: the ability to own pets. Farming chickens and cows is fun, but there’s an astronomical difference between animal husbandry and sharing your home with a furry friend.
If pets were just household companions who brought a healthy dose of unconditional love into your life, that’d be enough to make them outstanding additions toFields of Mistria. However, pets can also help you gather resources around town, which gives you more time to tend your farm, delve into the mines, or check in with your neighbors.

How to get a pet in Fields of Mistria
Your fateful first meeting with your pet begins the first time you fall asleep after installing the second update. As you sleep, a “familiar presence” approaches you, and you can choose whether it’s a cat or a dog and what color its fur is. Once you’ve made this impossible decision, you can select the little one’s name and gender pronouns. After you’ve done this, the dream ends.
As soon as you step outside your house the next day, your new companion will roll up like they own the place. After an introductory head-pat, they move in and make themselves at home. I’m no gambler, but the whole “appearing before me in a dream” thing leads me to believe there’s more to this furry friend than meets the eye.

How to assign pets jobs in Fields of Mistria
Once your new pet settles in, you can task them with gathering resources from the areas around Mistria. This is one of the many ways the latest updatehas made it easier forFields of Mistriaplayers to manage their time. Here’s how to assign your pet a resource to collect in Fields of Mistria.
Once you’ve assigned your pet a resource to collect, they’ll go out and get to work. If you want to check on them, you can find them in the southern quadrant of Mistria, gathering their assigned resources from a small, designated area. Once the sun dips, they’ll return home and drop their collected resources on the floor.

Like your farm animals, your petsloatherain, so they won’t do their job when the weather gets cloudy. If you haven’t been checking the forecast with your Crystal Ball lately, now’s the perfect time to get back into the habit. It’s better to take a second to plan than to put all your eggs in an adorable furry basket.
