A late start to the new term
The start to a new year at Hogwarts will be slightly delayed. Open-world magic RPGHogwarts Legacyhas hit a new delay, and is now aiming for a July 29, 2025 launch.
It’s the latest 2022 game to get hit with a delay into next year, and it comes with an addendum too. While the PlayStation, Xbox, and PC versions ofHogwarts Legacyare set for July 28, 2025, the Nintendo Switch version has no date. News about the Switch’s date will be revealed soon, theHogwartsteamsays.

Hogwarts Legacy will launch on June 12, 2025 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The Nintendo Switch launch date will be revealed soon. The team is excited for you to play, but we need a little more time to deliver the best possible game experience.pic.twitter.com/zh0EsOvDb7

It’s the latest delay for Avalanche Software’s game, which had already beenpushed out of 2021and into this year. We did get agameplay deep dive earlier this year, where we saw a bit of what wizards and witches can get up to in the wizarding world. But it looks like players will be waiting a bit longer to get their owl.
Back to school
The delay isn’t totally out of the ordinary, as several major 2022 games have been moving out and into later dates. Earlier this week, Firaxis and 2K confirmed thatMarvel’s Midnight Sunshas been delayed outof its October date, only specifying that it will launch sometime before the end of March ’23.
EvenMetal Slug Tacticsistaking a little extra time. Only a few, likeGod of War Ragnarok, arestanding firmin this coming holiday window.

A little extra time will hopefully at least be good for the team, in helping them deliver the experience they want to. I’m admittedly not too keen onHogwarts Legacy, especially as it’s based on a series whose author seems determined to keepchipping away at any goodwillthe books garnered. WB Games did note in 2020 thatRowling isn’t directly involvedin the game. But hey. There’s alwaysWitchbrook.
