Detective Pikachu Returns, the sequel to the 2016 Nintendo 3DS game, launches on October 6. It’s a spin-offPokemontitle featuring a mystery-solving Pikachu and his friend Tim Goodman who lives in Ryme City.
With the release date just around the corner, Nintendo is celebrating by offeringDetective Pikachu Returnsicon elements. These can then be used to create custom user icons. The icon elements will come in waves, and first wave started yesterday and will run until October 5 at 5:59 PM PT. You can expect the next waves at the following times:

You won’t have to pay for these icon elements, but they aren’t free either. Images cost 10 Platinum Points, while backgrounds and frames cost 5 Platinum Points. Youearn Platinum Pointsby completing My Nintendo missions, which you can find here.
A spin-off with gameplay that deviates from mainlinePokemontitles may be what the franchise needs right now, as thelatest DLC forScarlet and Violethas failed to leave much of an impression on critics.
