New project video shows possibilities

Virtual Reality still seems like science fiction somehow. I’ve had the pleasure of using the Oculus Rift VR headset a few times now but it still feels like something from the future that we’re not supposed to see yet. It’s exciting stuff for sure.

It’s even more exciting to see some of the VR possibilities when the Rift is paired with other input devices like Razer’s Hydra motion controllers. Indie dev Kelly Weaver has paired the two futuristic devices to actually get inside games. You’ll see in the above video that he is able to move his arms and head with direct control. From his viewpoint, he’s looking at his own moving arms and body. How cool is that?

Weaver goes on to suggest non-verbal gesturing use, but my mind is already fully into full gameplay possibilities. I’d love a newTrauma Centerseriesfrom Atlus where we’re able to look down into bodies on the operating table. Imagine using your hands to dig out tumors and guts! Or a slap fighting game.
