I’ve always been a huge fan of the microphones that ship with Sony’sSingStar. They’re big, have a real nice weight to them, and just feel good in your hand. But what’s up with the wires?

After using the wireless microphones forLips, I knew it was only a matter of time before Sony introduced their own wireless Tools of Vocal Destruction. The microphones will be powered by two AA batteries, and will connect to either the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 2 using a USB receiver and a mini-B USB cable. Sorry, no fancy Bluetooth stuff.

Sony was giving 100 UK fans the opportunity to win pre-release versions of the mic; but since playingSingStarand using the toilet are equally as popular in the UK, those went pretty fast. And despite the detailed “if you get this stuff don’t tell or show anyone” fine print, I’m sure we’ll be seeing these things in action soon enough.
