The Free Login Campaign is coming back toFinal Fantasy XIV, giving lapsed players a chance to dive back in for a limited time free of charge. If you’ve not stepped foot in Eorzea for a while, now’s the perfect time to re-familiarize yourself with the fantasy realm.

The Free Login Campaign, not to be confused with its spiritual event cousin, theFree to Play Campaign, is a periodical promotional event that rewards players who have stepped away fromFFXIVfor a while. It’s a way of enticing former players back in, and it works like a charm.

There are, of course, some requirements that need to be met before you qualify to make use of this promotional event:

If you meet this criteria, and you’ve been getting that itch that only a feud with a Primal can scratch, then I’ve got good news — between now (October 11) and October 31, you can get 96 hours of free playtime!

You can take part in both All Saints' Wake and The Hunt for Goetia if you time your Free Login Campaign just right in Final Fantasy XIV

Remember that this 96-hour countdown starts the first time you log in and doesn’t pause, even if you log off. That means that if you dip your toe in for an hour on a Wednesday and then try to log back in on Saturday, you’ll be out of playtime. As such, you’ll need to use this available time wisely, and I’ve got a few pointers to make the most of the time.

Making the most of October’s Free Login Campaign

Coming up before the cut-off point for the campaign, two events will be available to all players, whether they have a subscription or not:

If you want to make the most of your free hours, and get some pretty badass items to boot, I’d suggest holding off on starting your campaign participation for a few days. The best time to begin, especially for those of us who are sadly a little preoccupied with the horrible responsibilities of being a grown-up during the week, is Saturday, October 19.

You’ll need to subscribe after the Free Login Campaign ends in Final Fantasy XIV

Provided you have that weekend free in your diary, you can cram as much activity into those 96 hours as humanly possible and probably stock up on a hefty sum of Goetia to spend with the Itinerant Moogle.

Of course, if your schedule doesn’t quite line up with this, I’d still suggest not logging in until you’ve got a couple of days spare to binge and trying to make the most of the two events taking place within the Free Login Campaign time frame.
