Dontnod is prioritizing quality over timeliness
So, when’s the next episode ofLife is Strange 2coming out? For two months, fans have been asking that question with increasing impatience. Dontnod Entertainment has divulged a release window.
In a blog post, the studio said to expectEpisode 2: Rulesin January 2019, with more details arriving in mid-December. What’s the holdup? Dontnod said it doesn’t want to rushLife is Strange 2and “thereby fail to meet the benchmark of quality and emotional impact that you, our players, deserve.”
“We understand that there are certain expectations that episodes will be released at a similar cadence as previousLife is Strangegames have,” the article continued. “The ambition ofLife is Strange 2, however, means that the previous frameworks no longer apply if we are to meet the quality of play and storytelling that our vision for a game like this demands and that you deserve.”
Sluggish release timing is not a problem unique toLife is Strange. It’s the exact reason I try my best to hold off playing episodic games until they are complete or at least nearing the end of their production.
