Wood is an important resource inPalworld, but you may be hesitant to lay waste to the splendor of nature. If you do go ham on all the resources, you might wonder if that splendor will ever return. Do the trees grow back?

Yes. And not just the trees, but the rocks and other resources, as well.

Palworld Trees

Not only is the respawn interval one of the custom difficulty settings when creating a world (we’ll get to that), but I also put this through rigorous testing.

There was a tree standing on an outcropping near my base. So, to see if trees would grow back, I took an axe to the conspicuous growth, then waited to see if that outcropping would once again be populated by vegetation. Not only did the tree grow back, it grew back quickly.

This brings us to the respawn interval. When setting up a new world, if you click on the custom settings button next to custom difficulty, you’ll get a list of tweaks you can make. Scrolling down the list, you’ll find “Gatherable Objects Respawn Interval.” This is what controls the growth of trees and the, um… regeneration of rocks. By default, it is set to one and can be changed to any number between 0.5 and 3. Note that you can’t turn it off entirely.

Based on my testing, this indicates the number of days before a resource respawns. If you don’t change this setting, the next day, you’ll see trees popping back up where they stood before. There’s no growth cycle; they just reappear fully grown.

Now, if you don’t want them to come back, like if they’re in an inconvenient spot in your base, you’ll need to build something overtop of them. According to feedback, this only works if what you’re blocking them with is directly over top of them on the ground. The trees won’t, for example, grow directly through your floor. But as of right now, they will grow through a bridge.
