Looks a lot like it

Many of you will have heard the stories of a Sony and Nintendo crossover console that never was. Nintendo wanted a CD drive add-on for the SNES and initially approached Sony about making it.

The deals never worked out and Sony went on to make the PlayStation, while Nintendo went off to partner with Phillips in a deal that would result in the terrifying CD-iZeldagames coming to exist.

However, if images posted toredditare to be believed, a Sony SNES has actually made it out into the wild. While promotional pictures of the unit have existed for a number of years, these photos appear to reveal the first unit to escape secret development offices and get into the hands of an every day consumer.

According to the poster, the piece of hardware came from a box of junk his father had been meant to throw out after a company went bankrupt.

A battle scene in Battlefield 6 Open Beta

My dad worked for a company, apparently one of the guys he used to work with, I think his name was Olaf, used to work at Nintendo and when my dad’s company went bankrupt, my dad found it in a box of ‘junk’ he was supposed to throw out.

It’s currently unknown if the unit can be powered on and what data is on the cartridge included in the photos, but hopefully we will get to see more in the coming weeks.
