Dead Islandfirst forcibly grabbed the attention of the gaming populace withthattrailer, the beautiful bit of digital art that said nothing about the game but got everybody very excited. WithDead Island Riptide, Deep Silver had a snazzy idea — try it again.
Of course, this time around the video just looks cynical. The same style of music, the same emotional tone, the same minimal sound effects. Whereas the first game’s trailer was unique and surprising, now it evokes thoughts of a kid who told a funny joke and thought he’d get the same laughs telling it again right away.
