Handling distribution, not publishing

CD Projekt Red is again leaning on Warner Bros. Interactive for one of its biggest games. WhenCyberpunk 2077eventually releases (whenever that may be), Warner Bros. will play a key role in North America.

The two companies have announced that Warner Bros. will distributeCyberpunk 2077in North America. This is seemingly the same relationship that was in place for bothThe Witcher 2andThe Witcher 3. Additionally, Warner Bros. will be in charge of promotion, which likely includes all marketing costs.

There’s an important distinction to make here: Distribution and promotion are not the same as publishing. CD Projekt Red is still self-publishingCyberpunk 2077. That means we can probably expect post-launch support to fall more in line withThe Witcher 3‘s approach than, say,Middle-earth: Shadow of War‘s approach.
