No more Iron Banner, Trials of Osiris

Bungie thankfully is un-tethering itself from the last generation with itsnewDestinyexpansion— which has curbed advancements (like more vault space) for the past several years. But as the studio moves forward it’s infamous for leaving past expansions in the dust, and that seems like it’ll be the case come August withRise of Iron.

The company has announced that PS3 and Xbox 360 players will indeed be missing out on some major activities, most notably Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris, as well as any festival-type events like Crimson Days. Xur’s stock will be more limited as well. It’s not like the game is shutting down entirely, but these are major losses regardless, and it’s only a matter of time until last-gen players upgrade or skip out entirely.

While it’s great that Bungie can focus on making a potentially better game overall, this is another casualty in the “games as a service” era. One day theDestinyservers will be shut off for good, and your disc will be a fancy coaster.
