TheBioShockmovie gets a new hope in Netflix
Big Daddies are coming to the big screen. Netflix announced it is working with Take-Two Interactive and 2K, alongside Vertigo Entertainment, to create a film adaptation of theBioShockfranchise.
The announcement on Twitter shows the cover art of the originalBioShock, referencing the infamous “would you kindly” line as well. According toThe Hollywood Reporter, no filmmaker or writer is on board right now. The deal itself has reportedly been in the works for almost a year.

ABioShockmovie wasalready in the works years ago, though the project never came to fruition. Now, it seems like the time is right for the franchise to re-emerge and get its silver screen adaptation.

Given the cover art Netflix is leading with, an adaptation of the first game seems pretty likely. A live-action version of Jack’s adventure to the depths of Rapture, and the downfall of the underwater city, seems just right for an action-thriller.
TheBioShockseries itself has been fairly quiet over the last few years. A newBioShockgameis in development at Cloud Chamber, though we don’t know many details yet. The last entry in the series was the second episode ofBioShock Infinite‘s DLC,Burial at Sea, in 2014.

Video game adaptations to the big screen have become increasingly popular over the years sinceBioShockfirst launched. The Witchertook Netflix by storm, and anUnchartedmovie is set to debut soon. Whether theBioShockproject turns out well or not, I would like to see how terrifying a Big Daddy can be on film.
