Relive the magic of arcades without the sticky floors and greasy knobs
’80s arcade management simArcadecraftis now available on Xbox Live Indie Games (240 Microsoft points; $3.00), where indie games go to die unless they are zombie-based orMinecraftrip-offs. Bringing to mind that title in name only,Arcadecraftharkens back to the Bullfrog sims of the ’90s (Theme Hospital,Theme Park) and sports a pleasant colorful look.
Like any good sim, the player is constantly pressured to meet the demands of a divisive public. Picking the right genre of game, style of cabinet, game difficulty, and game price all factor into running a successful establishment. There is also the growing threat of jammed coin slots, coin boxes that need cleaning, and hardware malfunctions. Having followed Austin’sArcade UFO owner on Twitter, all of this sounds about right.
