You’ll have to play Marvel’s Avengers a little longer in order to level up

New update to tweak XP and loot mechanics Developer Crystal Dynamics and publisher Square Enix have announced a new update for their comic-book epicMarvel’s Avengers. Dropping on March 18, the new patch will decelerate the amount of XP delivered to the player, slowing down the progression of each individual character and making it a tad longer to assemble Avengers. In a statement on its official blog, Crystal Dynamics stated that the reason behind this move was to prevent players from being overrun with skill points and attributes early into a character’s build....

Zoey Handley’s Top 10 Picks of 2023

Here’s a number for you: this year, I reviewed 69 games for Destructoid. Nice. It wasn’t intentional, but it almost was. I thought I was at 68, so I was trying to figure out how to fit one more in. But it turns out that OpenCritic is missing one, and poorer for it. What are we here for? Right. My favorite games this year, in no particular order. It is always hard for me to put year-end lists together because I can barely remember what I played last month....

2B brings her bloodlust to Ashina with this Sekiro mod

Shura, why not? Modders have transplanted countless characters, and while the results are often little more than achuckle-inducing novelty, sometimes their move just fundamentallyworks. I don’t know howNieR: Automata‘s 2B would end up on a hard-fought quest sneaking through picturesque Ashina, but in my mind–if I don’t think too hard about the particulars–this mash-up makes a weird sort of sense. Thanks toSekiromodder Forsakensilver, you’re able to put Wolf on the bench and play as 2B instead....

The Wii version is now a side experience FamilyGamerTV channel had a chance to catch up with Activision exec Josh Taub, and get a quick rundown on what to expect later this year with the Nintendo editions ofSkylanders SuperChargers. Ban this sick FILTH: Games that personally offend me

Videogames are all fun and frolics until you get personally offended by one of them, then they become catalysts of societal downfall and the corruption of a nation’s youth so must bestopped at all costs. I used to believe that people who lobbied for the restriction or outright censorship of videogames were idiots. I used to mock and deride those who got upset over insignificant details and silly misunderstandings in games....

DayZ in a sticky situation thanks to the sticky icky

Gone-ja Marijuana (a/k/a “weed,” “pot,” “the devil’s lettuce”) is becoming increasingly accepted and decriminalized in various parts of the world. Not Australia, though and that has caused some significant problems for an already-released game. DayZhas been refused an age rating by the Australian Classification Board ahead of the launch of the physical edition. It’s all because marijuana has been found in the game files. It’s important to note thatDayZhasn’t actually yet implemented marijuana as an in-game system; it’s equally important to note thatDayZfeatures codeine and morphine use as a pain relief/healing mechanic....

Did you play Blue Dragon? Whatever the case might be, it deserves to be remembered

I remember where I was whenBlue Dragonwas announced. Although I already had an Xbox 360 and was ready for it, some folks I knew bought one just for it given who was involved (Nobuo Uematsu, Hironobu Sakaguchi, Akira Toriyama): as Mistwalker and Microsoft Game Studios made a mad dash to put out more games from Japanese studios on the Xbox ecosystem. So how did it actually go? Well, it depends on who you ask....

Does amiibo work on the Boston subway system?

No. The reality of Amiibo is kinda cool, but the dream of Amiibo is infectious. The Russian Instagram video of someone trying (and apparently failing) to use a Samus Amiibo to get on thesubway is at over 100K views on my Youtube channel. That’s a lot of passion for the potential of Amiibo. It’s the kind of thing that myths and legends are made of. Case in point, I was at my local GameStop yesterday and the clerk behind the counter mentioned to me that his “buddy confirmed” that “only the Samus Amiibo would get you a free ride on the Boston area subway system....
